Aguanga is a census-designated place (CDP) located within the Inland Empire in Riverside County. The census-designated place is located 22 miles southeast of Hemet and 18 miles east of Temecula. The name "Aguanga" comes from the former village of the native Luiseno people that was named awaanga, meaning "dog place." The town of Aguana started as a post office named Tejungo Station, which was located 14 miles east of Temecula.
